Review on ๐Ÿš— Bilstein Monotube Shock Absorber (24-197779) - Enhanced Damping for Superior Performance by Scott Hadlock

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Buy KYB MonoMax instead

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed. My stock 2015 F350 Crew Cab Diesel has clocked 105,000 miles with the stock shocks and I figured their effectiveness was going to be marginal. I ordered a full set of four Bilstein 4600 series and installed all 4 at the same time. The ride improved drastically while cruising cross country in my yard (grass) at 5km/h. They cushion a little better than my old pants on the freeway. If you're towing a fully loaded trailer with a bumper and the best clutch/anti-sway system you can buy at about 12,000 pounds, these shocks will perform just like my old Motorcraft shocks. Hot springs and every bump were remembered. The KYB MonoMax is much cheaper and offers exactly the same driving experience as the famous Bilsteins. I also have a 7.3 Excursion that I upgraded from a Monroe Reflex to a KYB MonoMax so I know the shocks very well. They don't make the 5100 series for twice the standard height or I would buy them. KYB will replace these shock absorbers when they are worn out.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
