Good but some work to do

I bought this bag to make it easier to carry a lot of gear. I have used shoulder and shoulder bags before but have found that I often need to travel with a wide range of gear in addition to being able to carry long distances comfortably in one. The backpack is well made and can withstand a lot. I easily fit 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 200-500 set, 50, 1.4x TC, 2x TC, light meter, flash, pocket pair master, cables, filters, etc. You get the picture. The bag allowed me to easily carry this for several hours if adjusted correctly so that the weight was partially on my hips. The shoulder straps were comfortable but could have been better padded and with better quality foam. The laptop compartment is pretty much useless unless you stuff something in the inner zippered mesh pockets. I could barely fit my iPad Pro 9.7 into the Otterbox case just to fit a few things inside. The side reservoir pocket is convenient to carry a few other small items, such as a phone or an extra battery, as long as it is not used for water and does not collide inside. Side pockets are useful for a water bottle or items that need quick access, such as a wallet. a telephone. They have a nice elastic cord and snap on belt strap for a good fit and security. Compared to other options currently available, I felt this was one of the best. With a few adjustments it could have gone much better. You must remove the bag to access the gear. The tripod carrying options work well with my large tripod. Basically I like the bag. I must add that this 30 liter bag fits nicely in an airplane luggage compartment. The rain cover can be used as a duster to keep you or your bag clean/dry.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive
