The thread breaks very often

I ordered this cotton thread to replace another brand that kept breaking. The first quarter of a spool of Coats and Clark cotton yarn was excellent. Then the thread began to break very often. I've changed needles and adjusted tension several times, but this thread has snapped every few minutes while sewing. I do not recommend this cotton thread.
