WARNING: Your motherboard must be newer to achieve the specified speeds.

To be honest I would give this CD five stars but I gave it three so people are more likely to read this important disclaimer: I bought it without much searching because I knew these CD would fit my motherboard M .2 slot. After installing it, I got disappointing speeds. For example, my sequential read speed was 723 MB/s according to AS SSD testing software. After a little research, I found that only newer PCs with PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 can run higher published speeds with this drive. My motherboard has an older X99 chipset that is several years old. HOWEVER, in my case I was able to get a fairly cheap adapter board that boosted the sequential read speed to 2780MB/s. It's right here at Revain: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GFDVXVJ (Note that Revain has several of these adapters to choose from.) I just got my SSD from the charges for the M.2 removed my motherboard slot. , installed it in the adapter's M.2 slot, and installed the adapter in a free PCI x16 slot. Voila, my initial speed is four times faster. Later, when Intel finally releases a PCIe 4.0 chipset, I will most likely use this SSD in it and get the full advertised speed. AMD now has PCIe 4.0 chipsets if you can't wait. Please note that PCIe 3.0 motherboards (i.e. X299 and later chipsets) will also deliver higher speeds, but are still slightly below what this drive is capable of.
