So far only used for reception (with my radio as a "scanner"). "Bulky" but any 4 foot antenna is. Performance may vary depending on where you place it - if you do. I don't know enough to be sure about this, but I do know that the overall length has to "match" the wavelength. As far as a foldable antenna goes, it's beyond my current capabilities. This may explain others saying it doesn't work. They may also have a connection issue - some radios may require the rubber boot to be trimmed. If the connector is not fully inserted, the antenna will not work.
