I would say that the excellent quality of the set was on par with U gears. A little harder than I thought for the size of the model. The guide was fair (U-shaped gears are better). What I really liked was the use of a metal ribbon spring for the power supply (instead of rubber bands). As with all these wooden mechanical models, ensure all gears are in good working order (sand thoroughly and lubricate with the wax provided) before final assembly. Again, wood lubricated with wax is not the best option for smooth gearing. So don't expect perfectly smooth operation without model adjustments after assembly. Finally, I really think that this set will be disappointing for children due to its complexity and the difficulty in assembling many of the pieces.
