The tripod is very poorly designed and at minimum height the bottom of the ring sits 19 inches above the surface (and that's without the pivoting neck - the only way to place it at any angle - which adds another 7 inches). ). and that leaves three 19-inch legs splayed horizontally in different directions. That's plenty of room to try and mount it on a desk with a monitor, keyboard, etc. I have all sorts of cameras and tripods, but the connectors on the ring are not standard and it takes a bit of fiddling to get to this in order to work at the right height on the desk. Maybe I can understand why they didn't use the standard 1/4" or 3/8" screws (because of the shearing force when the ring and camera are angled), but they have a very special adapter on top of the Tripod included and back on gooseneck. To be honest I don't know how or if I'm going to get this thing working, but it will probably require the tripod to be loosened with a dremel and the rod attached to the table, but that would surely ruin the tripod for the normal use. I really regret this purchase but I missed the return window.
