I love almost everything about the EC1 - it's a comfortable, ergonomic, unobtrusive gaming mouse with driverless controls/adjustments and exceptional accuracy. I've used it for both work and competitive FPS - it doesn't look out of place in the office, it lacks the ubiquitous "gaming" aesthetic that can't be avoided these days, but it works better than the glitzy ones other brands of peripherals. There's just one problem: the side button actuation mechanism is inherently unreliable. This is a problem for me - I connect a 4/5 mouse to PTT for in-game communication, and hard pressing during a chaotic round will inevitably destroy them. I first bought an EC1-A in 2018 and it lasted about a year and a half. before one of the side button actuators broke. I opened it up and found that this plastic mechanism serves to transfer power from a horizontally oriented button to a microswitch mounted vertically on a circuit board. I bought an identical replacement in late 2019 and within a year the same thing happened. I couldn't find a replacement part, but at least I was able to fix it with epoxy. However, knowing that the design would inherently cause it to fail again, I bought this new EC1 with hope. I thought, they would change the mechanism or at least update the materials. Six months later he suffered the same failure. I'm sorry to say that as much as I love these mice, I'll have to start looking elsewhere. that this plastic mechanism is designed to transfer power from a horizontally oriented button to a microswitch mounted vertically on a circuit board.
