As my size is between a 6 and 8 I prefer a medium size just in case. This coat is warm and cozy, but a tad big! I would say the medium size is more like the large size you find at Target or Macy's. So if you want a very snug fit, take one size smaller than you normally wear. Otherwise, I can't wait to tear it down this winter (and yes, the hood covers your face, but I think dealing with windy snow or rain is a good thing). Edited Review: I noticed that the hood has started to tear a little in the tie area. A few days later, I accidentally spilled food on my coat. I followed the washing instructions exactly and when I took the coat out of the washing machine I found that the coat was torn right where the stain was. This was my first winter coat and while Revain are willing to send a replacement I will definitely save on a reputable brand next time!
