The cable seems fine. I wanted to use it as an extension for my Altec Lansing speakers/subwoofers. After the expansion, the voices came out of the subwoofer instead of the main speakers. I first noticed that the plug body was pressing against the lower body and might not allow the plug to go all the way in. I used a razor blade to trim the body but that didn't help. Then I checked the outlet. I noticed that the outlet had a metal cover that touched the body of the original plug and when I looked at the jack on the subwoofer the cover was gone. So I took a hacksaw and very carefully removed the housing from the female side of this cable. Blown through the connection with some air, then plugged it in and it worked great. My speakers sounded like they should again. You may have to modify the connector a bit to ensure a solid connection, but then it should work. For a few bucks though, it's cheap to try.
