I was very skeptical about using hair soap! My son got a pair as gifts and wanted my opinion so I bought a few to try. The price for such small bars was off-putting at first, but once I tried them and saw that the bars didn't dissolve right away, I felt better about the price. The jury is still out as I've only used them a couple of times, but if the current models hold up I'll buy them again. They don't dry out your hair, as you can logically conclude from the fact that soap bars dry out your skin, not at all! The shampoo foams very well and makes the hair silky. The conditioner bar takes a little getting used to because it doesn't lather (and it shouldn't), but because of that you never know if it'll end up on your hair. I know I've had enough when I can run my fingers through my hair and not get tangled. When it washes out you will really feel how soft and silky it leaves your hair. Open yourself to this concept and you will not regret it.
