Good cartridges, great price and easy chip replacement procedure (see details). Conditionally recommended

$122 vs. $400? Certainly not. Using a color laser has always been an expensive undertaking. When you bought your printer, things didn't look so bleak because it came with a set of toner cartridges - until you realized those cartridges are usually "starter" units. I remember that a set of "regular" replacement toner cartridges for my Kyocera cost more than the printer itself! It's not that bad with the HP Color Laserjet Pro M283fdw, but a full set of genuine, high-yield cartridges costs over $400. Find out where to replace a compatible TRUE IMAGE toner cartridge for HP 206X 206A W2110A W2110X HP Color Laserjet Pro M255dw MFP M283fdw M283cdw M283 M255 Printer Toner (Black Cyan Yellow Magenta 4 Pack). The toner is nothing special. It is a magnetic pigment that must be uniform in size and color. The cartridge has a drum and a toner, I think there is nothing particularly complicated about it. So why is an OEM cartridge $100 and a third-party cartridge $30? Fear. You see, OEM cartridges come with small chips. I think it's just a small piece of non-volatile memory that stores the amount of toner left in the cartridge. I also think the printer uses this to verify that the cartridge is the right color, genuine HP toner, etc. Third parties don't make these chips, so you can extract them from your HP cartridges. Cut off the plastic protection with scissors (or a knife) and then pull out the existing chip (if necessary with the tool + drill provided). Put it in an aftermarket cartridge and you're done. It's easy and only takes about a minute per cartridge. In any case, the print quality seems to be identical. While there might be some color differences, I can't see them and color lasers aren't designed for photorealistic printing anyway. The catch is that this tells the printer that the cartridge is genuine and of the correct type. , but that doesn't delete the usage. The bottom line is that you can print thousands of pages, but you still get low toner messages and don't know how much toner you have left. So your actual savings isn't $278. They cost $278 minus the overhead of warnings and uncertainties. You can deal with uncertainty by having another toner on hand, but there's nothing you can do about annoying messages. If you're concerned about saving a lot of money, these cartridges are for you. Conditionally recommended
