I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this product. I bought a 2009 Ford F-150 with 31,000 miles but the steering wheel looked like it was in a truck with 250,000 miles so I bought one of these to try. I will say the gray one I bought first was a little lighter than the rest of the steering wheel so I decided to order this black one before fitting it. So, first things first. Don't buy extra needles like I did based on other product reviews (needles are sharp). Use the included carving tool (not sharp). Fasten about 1/4 of the wheel at a time, firmly but loosely, or until you get past the first cross, feeling for holes in the leather. If this isn't easy don't press too hard because you're not in a hole and I think that's what the other reviewers do, find a hole and it will slide right through it (not perfect but you have to don't strain to start it). I made a few mistakes with the lacing and ended up breaking through a few times, but it looks better than anything I've bought from Revain for $$$$. Overall it took me about 2 hours and that's how it was.1. Place the cap on the wheel, 2. Start to the left of the bottom seam 3. Lace loosely just past the first crossbar, making sure the last lacing in and out of the crossbar is well behind so the threads unravel the crossbar are taut. I pulled the first section tight over the crossbar, and when I needed a break from lacing the cover, I pushed it into the finger recesses on the steering wheel so it was as snug as possible for the next step. I moved on to the next latte. I hand tightened them just enough to make sure the holes were seated properly.6. When I was about 3/4 of the way I went back to the beginning. I used needle nose pliers to take up the slack and tighten the seams all the way around. This provided the extra thread needed to complete. Be careful with the needle nose pliers not to damage the thread.7. Just before tying, I went back and pinned the last 1/4, then tied, cut off and tucked away. I am very happy with the results.
