Some kind of glue is needed to glue the glass pieces together.
The description says nothing about the size of the charms. They are very very small. I was hoping they would be 2.5-3 inches, but unfortunately they are around 1 inch. About two fingers wide when you hold it in your hand. Too small for what I needed. However, it may work for others, they will just put fabric of the same color inside. However, I suspect they have really good customer service because they put a little disclaimer there about damage to the plastic box or mixing all the parts and about quality issues.
