Review on Freewell Variable ND 2-5 Stop and 6-9 Stop Filters 2-Pack for Mavic Air 2 Drone (Not Compatible with AIR 2S) by Peter Caw

The 2-5 stop VND filter has worse multilayer coverage than the 6-9 stop VND filter. The optical quality is visible. The product image shows a multi-layer coating of a similar color, which has nothing to do with the product supplied. A 2-5 f-stop VND filter is no better than your average cheap VND filter and produces a similar polarizing effect as a low cost expensive circular polarizing filter, giving strange effects to blue skies. It's also slightly crossed over at 5 stops, making it almost unusable in certain lighting conditions. The 6-9 stage VND filter glass is of much higher quality. I really like this filter, it would be nice if both filters were of this quality. I'm happy with the price as I'll be using the 6-9 stop VND filter more for time lapse. light and portable from time to time. For this reason I prefer VND for setting ND filters. Freewell needs to improve the quality of the 2-5 Stop VND filter to live up to its reputation, even if it means increasing the price.
