I like New Balance as they make shoes for my thick feet. My actual size is $10.5 2E or 4E if I can find it. Most of the time I have to go to an 11 to get a little more width at the toe, but often short tongue shoes still don't open wide enough for my high instep/fat foot. These shoes have a very long tongue, which allows you to significantly increase the width of the shoe. Pulled through the top eyelet - the standard laces are a bit short - too short for a double knot. I read another review commenting on these shoes creaking and it is LOUD! The sticky yellow rubber soles provide great traction, but it feels like you're walking on wet linoleum. I'm not sure if it's the sole or the fact that the edges aren't rounded at all. I hope they settle down with some wear and tear. UPDATE: These soles are sticky/grippy and have started picking up enough sand and dust to settle down.
