Review on πŸ’» LG 24MP60G B: FreeSync, Virtually Borderless, Anti-Glare Screen, IPS, HD Monitor - 24MP60G-B. by Mike Giorgakis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's okay: my rating

I like it so far, but there are a few downsides I want to point out right away. Another reviewer said this, and I have to back up his claims, the PSU cord is bloody short! It's only about 4 feet long, I managed to get over this with some engineering, using double sided tape with guerrilla super glue and gluing the extension to my table leg, I shouldn't have to do this but I did , gotta do what i gotta do. The power cord had to be at least 6 feet long. My next complaint is that the vesa mount is unevenly back centered for most people, this won't be a big problem, probably more of a problem for me than anything else just because of my setup. Next problem in quick menu is gamer 1 is programmable gamer 2 is programmable then goes to non programmable fps then non programmable rts quick change menu why? You can switch to these modes, but you have to go through all the settings menus to switch to them. Why? Why can't we see all the options in the quick selection menu? Even my $110 Asus screen allowed me that option. To make matters worse, the same Asus monitor allowed me to program any profile. At this $180 price point, I should be able to quickly select and program any profile. I really like the following crosshair function, but why can't I program it in gamer profiles 1/2, every time I want to use it I have to activate it from the settings menu, we had to program it in one of the game modes . If I wanted it to turn off, switch to player 2, switch to player 1, this simplicity would be the best option. I imagine my joystick will break with settings before my panel lights up at that speed. I don't understand why LG didn't allow to keep this option in programmable profiles, anything else could be except it doesn't make sense. Also, a weird crosshair bug lets you say you're using it, if you turn the screen off, it turns off (after turning the screen back, the crosshair is off). It's not a mistake I don't think. The error suggests that you are using a crosshair, let's say you go and turn it off and then turn off the screen. The next time you turn on the screen, it may take a few hours for the damn crosshair to turn on by itself. I suspect this is a bug. Can't save it as a profile setting, but seems to remember it being enabled at some point, even though it was disabled prior to lmao. I think the monitor firmware is a bit buggy with this feature. Anyway, that's what worries me the most. The rest of the features it offers work well. FreeSync runs from 48 fps to 75 fps (each Hz). Ghosting is most noticeable in racing games, but from a distance they look decent, like a motion blur effect, I got used to them pretty quickly and never bothered me. I haven't noticed this in any other FPS RTS RPG game, it's just not as noticeable there as it is in a racing game. I've never tested with FreeSync off and this 1ms mbr, so I can't verify this feature. Picture and Color - Excellent brightness/contrast, can be very bright, retinal burn. When I'm not gaming, I lower the brightness and contrast to around 50% and 30%, respectively. (Actually, I use Gamer 1 for gaming and Gamer 2 for non-gaming because I can't stand non-programmable presets other than photos and movies). There is an option to get into the secret debug/maintenance menu for this screen, but I have no idea what it all means, so I haven't messed with it for long if you want to know how a search engine is your friend. So my final thoughts: I probably won't be buying any of these particular screens again. I did it once because I needed a new screen and decided to try something different for a change. I've been using TN screens for so long that I've had a hard time calibrating colors to match them. I finally got what I liked, but I was satisfied with the low midrange TN screen. As much as I hate to say it, I only miss my old $110 Asus TN screen because its features allowed for more flexibility and programmable profiles. There is no excuse for a $180 screen (at the time I bought it) not supporting 2 programmable profiles. So pay attention LG, you have a customer who says they like the $110 Asus screen better than your $180 screen. Learn from this review and improve your product.
