I have a laptop (ASUS ROG Strix G17 G712LU) that only has HDMI output. I wanted to set up my workstation with two ultrawide monitors that I have. I have a 34" monitor and a 29" monitor. Also, my laptop is a gaming laptop so I can't use most docks with it and still use a dedicated GPU for graphics. So I needed a solution that would allow the use of two monitors without a docking station. I know I can use the USB-C port to output video, so the second display is covered. The only thing missing was a way to use the USB-C port to connect to a second monitor. This cable is exactly what I was looking for. I used it to output video from my laptop's USB-C port to my monitor's HDMI port. I just plugged in the cable and turned everything on and like I had everything I needed. I now use dual monitors with my laptop and can use the dedicated GPU on the laptop for gaming as I have a direct connection from the GPU to the monitor. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to use a similar setup. It works great and now I can customize this cable the way I want.
