This oil filter wrench is made of alloy and is strong enough to grip the filter cap tightly, allowing you to use a pry bar to push it down if the filter caps are stuck. (I don't know why the dealer tightens them so tight; they should only be rated at 18ft-lbs.) So you don't have to worry about it slipping off and breaking your joints in the process. One thing I did on mine key was to engrave the torque specifications (18 ft-lbs) for the cover on the inside of the key. So I don't have to look at every oil change in my car.
