I give this Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 XS 5 stars because I think it is very good at what it does. Is this a top lens type? Absolutely not. However, when used correctly, it is a very good lens. At 40mm it's sort of a tweener in the sense that it's not very wide and certainly not very long. It is fast enough, has very good sharpness and is very convenient to carry. I found the autofocus to be very fast and I didn't notice much noise. Seriously, this thing is thinner than the back cover that came with it. There isn't much travel, so noise isn't an issue. Thickness (or lack thereof) is a minor issue. I have larger than average hands and it takes a bit of patience to put this thing on and off. I use it on a Pentax K-50 and find it a fun little lens well worth its current price (under $130) if you can find a use for it. I used it at a parade recently and found it almost perfect for the situation. I'm by no means a pro, but I've included a few examples of what I filmed with this little guy. I'll be using it quite a bit for street photography and maybe in some portrait situations.
