I am very happy with this purchase, I will advise everyone!

Since I got the lens for free, there could not be any shortcomings for me, but still, in general, it fully justifies itself, especially with the "k-01" due to its compactness. Different pros: Even at 2.8 sharp Really very compact Beautiful bokeh pattern Focuses quickly Has cons: All disadvantages follow from advantages. The lid can be easily lost. it is very small (27mm after all) It is difficult to find filters under 27mm

The right product for me, the price suited me.

I actually got it for free, along with the Pentax K-01 kit, so for me this is a very good purchase. But if you buy separately new, then, in my opinion, it’s definitely not him, but SMC Pentax DA 40mm f / 2.8 Limited. Got pros: According to the optical design, this is the famous SMC Pentax-M 1: 2.8 / 40mm Compact lens with a chic design. Covers full frame. Can be used on film cameras that have the ability to set the aperture from the camera. Cons: By design, this is a castrated DA 40mm f/2.8…

Just buy it - camera lenses

This is an AMAZING deal Good: Small flashlight fits in small pockets Fast focusing metal mount One of the best value low distortion Pentax lenses At 61mm (on a Pentax body). fits well indoors and outdoors. The Bad: Small CA lens cap when the aperture is wide open (fix this in Lightroom) So small you may have to change the way you hold the .6 camera to get it almost perfect. At a current price of less than $130, this is a real gem and bargain. I have 10 other Pentax compatible lenses and think…

Sharp as a nail, tiny

Super compact, super clear. I LOVE this lens. It's portable enough to carry with an 18-55 on my camera, and the K-5 almost looks like a soapbox. 2.8 is sharper than expected and offers excellent depth of field wide open. From 3.5 it's sharp like a nail. Compared to its older brother, this lens has a rather high price. Other reviewers have mentioned difficulties with removal, but I've never had any problems. Until you grab the focus ring, it immediately flies away. Highly recommended for…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Available in white only

I use this lens on my Pentax K5 II, I use it as my main lens most of the time. This is a small, thin and light camera that allows you to carry your DSLR almost like a compact camera. Pentax lenses are mostly overpriced, but this lens is a good buy. The other 40mm version of the Pentax lens is about double the price, has good glass and is a great lens for street photography as it's small so people don't pay you much attention as they would with a lens in full size would do. Lens.On Crop Sensor…

Best value for money

Very good lens, sharp and no framing at all (the framing annoys me so much that I no longer use the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 zoom for this reason) . My K-3 with this lens fits easily in my fanny pack and I don't have to worry about the lens hood when shooting with the built-in flash. The small size of the hole, about the size of a thumbnail, allows you to shoot animals and birds in zoo cages through a hole in the 1x1 inch wires. One downside to the small size is that the lens cap here is a small…

Lens of Interest: SLR Camera Lenses

I give this Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 XS 5 stars because I think it is very good at what it does. Is this a top lens type? Absolutely not. However, when used correctly, it is a very good lens. At 40mm it's sort of a tweener in the sense that it's not very wide and certainly not very long. It is fast enough, has very good sharpness and is very convenient to carry. I found the autofocus to be very fast and I didn't notice much noise. Seriously, this thing is thinner than the back cover that came with…

The BEST $100 I've ever spent on photography!

I just LOVE this lens! I've bought lenses that cost many times more than this and they haven't wowed me as much as this little gem. It's lightning fast, insanely sharp, extremely light and small. My big Pentax K-50 (Pentax RULES!) and this lens makes for the most amazing street photography ever. The bokeh is just gorgeous! My camera feels naked without all the weight of my usual large lenses, and I was able to lug it to a presidential rally as P&S recently. Single-lens reflex cameras with…

Just what I was looking for

I wanted a street photography lens that didn't immediately identify me as a block photographer. Even my 50mm f/1.4 lens was larger than I wanted. I was talking about buying the limited edition Pentax originally introduced, but didn't want to pay the price. This lens was 2/3 cheaper, was made for a different market, but works well with both my K-5 and K100D Super. It doesn't have a "Quick Shift" function to switch to manual mode, but I can't think of a case where I would use it in manual focus…
