Review on Dell Latitude 7480 Dual Core Refurbished by David Carter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

great business laptop to last

I have bought many Dell 5000 and 7000 Lattidude systems from Dell and I bought two 7480s in January when they were the previous deal of the day. The Latitude is my favorite business laptop. They are durable, resistant to impact and come with a local warranty. Some people don't understand the price of a business laptop, but I love the fact that they're thinner and lighter, yet very durable. I have some military damage on a 7450 that I've worn every day for the past few years. I have mistreated my 7450 but it still works just as well as the day I bought it. Judging by the employees' attitude towards laptops, the $500 special blue light probably won't last long! There seem to be some possible errors in the specification for the warranty. These are refurbished Dell devices and all refurbished Dell devices carry the same warranty as the original. The 7480 always comes with a 3 year warranty as standard, so I think this one will also have a 3 year warranty. Please don't take this as fact, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a 3 year guarantee. This is a standard warranty, not a professional support or accidental damage warranty, but it is still a warranty if a specialist is sent to you. I'm really pleased this is a live deal again but you have a choice today as the 5480 and 7480 are both on sale as the deal of the day. I prefer the 7480 over the 5480. I know this 5480 has more RAM and a touchscreen but it only has a 1 year warranty while the 7480 probably has a 3 year warranty. The 5480 is half a pound heavier (about 3.5 pounds) and slightly thicker. The 7480 is just a step up and slightly more premium. They have a smaller bezel and I like the hinge better. I also prefer a matte screen and I don't care what I'm going to use primarily as a laptop, so I'm sure that will influence my decision somewhat. You get 3 regular rectangular USB 3.1 ports and one USB C port. They have an optional Thunderbolt 3 version, but I'm pretty sure you're only getting the USB C version here. It has two video outputs: HDMI and the USB C port supports DisplayPort output with adapter. They also have an Ethernet port and a standard Dell power plug. It has a micro SD slot and a headphone jack. The Full HD screen is matte, beautiful and quite bright. The backlit keyboard is also very handy when you use it in a dark or semi-dark room! It is very easy to take off. It's like eight screws. There are two RAM slots, but I have no idea if you're getting 2x4 or 1x8 (16GB max). I've never seen a 7480 without DDR4 2400 RAM. A 256 drive would be an m.2 drive. It will likely be a SATA M.2 drive, but you can install a 4-lane NVME drive in the M.2 slot. I've heard that the WWAN slot in the 5480 can use a dual lane 42mm NVME drive for two drives, but I have no real information about this possibility and haven't tried it. There's nothing else to configure under the hood, unless you want to change the WiFi card or battery. There are multiple battery options and I'm not sure what you're getting here. There are 3 or 4 cell batteries and each one lasts a long time, but a 4 cell battery lasts over 11 hours! All in all, this is a very reliable laptop. If you need a touchscreen there's a 5480 for the same price. But I think this 7480 is a bit good and I prefer it. I just bought two in January and am considering buying another one for a co-worker. Today's Deal 5480 Here: Dell Latitude 5480 14" Laptop, Full HD Touchscreen, Intel Core i5-6300U Dual Core, 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, 802.11ac, Backlit Keyboard, Bluetooth, Win10Pro (Certified Refurbished )
