Some reviews said their lamp was broken when it arrived so I ordered with a little trepidation. However, when it arrived (quickly!) it was well packaged and there was no problem with my lamp. The base salt was completely intact and the pieces placed on the base were also a good size and did not appear to have been damaged in transit. There is a rheostat (dimmer) knob on the cord, making it difficult to light the lamp or unscrew the lamp all the way. (When all the salt is in place, it glows very brightly when turned all the way, but it's actually an atmosphere lamp. Or, if you're into crystals, you might think it has great properties in your (I ordered because I have a child who really wants one for her room, she will be very happy with the size, stability and effect.) Very good indeed, well worth the money - and comes with an extra bulb!
