Review on ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Finera USB 2.0 Games Controller Adapter Converter Cable: Sony PS2 DualShock 2 Joypad Compatible with PS3 and PC Gaming by Ryan Turner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compatible to item

When I bought a similar adapter over a decade ago I couldn't register it on my original 60GB PS3 to play my massive collection of PS2 games so I returned it. This year I bought a similar adapter to use with my PS2 wheel and FPS controller. The first was lost on delivery so resorted to this particular model when the question was that it could prescribe the PS2 steering wheel. The item arrived and I was able to test my steering wheel in a racing game first, it worked great in a PS3 game and I tried again with my FPS controller and it worked just as well. I then tried playing Playstation Classics with any controller and even the standard Dualshock 2 controller, with mixed results. Sometimes it doesn't register, sometimes it doesn't recognize the analog controls, so it's largely the software's fault. I bought this to test out my more specialized controllers for PS4 and later consoles in the future if and when I ever think about buying one of these. However, it would be nice if I could play with a Dualshock 2 controller on PS2 and PSOne Classics that I downloaded from PSN, but this is not always clear or compatible, it protects the game used and pretty much the trial version. and mistakes. Then I tried to use it on my PC. Again, it doesn't register even after I download and install the driver. I'm not sure if this is due to XBox 360 controller driver interference, but I just couldn't get my computer to register it for gameplay. He recognized the controller's name, but nothing else. Both real computer games and emulators simply could not be found. All I can say is that the hardware works as advertised, but the software leaves a lot to be desired and unfortunately the adapter manufacturer and vendor have only been able to handle the software and driver side so far. It's cheap compared to other more modern USB controllers, but be warned that it's not a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to anything other than PS3 games. UPDATE: I was recently wondering if the adapter would work with a physical PSOne drive instead of an emulated one, so I tested it. After successfully testing and experimenting not only with the physical PSOne drive but also with the above PSOne and PS2 Classic games emulated and finally found that a good percentage of the above issues can be bypassed with it, im Basically by making sure the controller is actually configured as the primary controller and not a secondary one, and hence the ability to detect analog sticks in-game. However, be warned that when it comes to PS2 Classic emulated games, the number pad as well as the analog button recognized as the PS button are overly sensitive. In fact, PS3 and the mentioned emulated game simulate one click as several. I'm not sure if this is software related or if the problem is with the controller itself, but experience so far tells me it's the latter. It's hardly enough to justify a higher rating, but it's something that should count. EDIT: I just tried it on my PS4 and it was recognized as a Dualshock 3 controller so it can't be used. Well, my controllers are being tested for the future.
