Foreword: I'm not a person who likes to listen to loud music and I don't need a bass that kicks in the pit of my stomach. If you are, then these speakers are not for you. They're pretty inefficient, so you'll need to put some power into them to get decent sound from them. And with 4-inch woofers, you won't get much air movement. I've also tried them on a few different amps. Sound at 50 watts per channel. I wasn't too impressed with the sound I got from them without a preamp. Although other speakers sound very good with this amp. I then hooked them up to a Pioneer integrated stereo amp and they just sound good. - very full and soft sound from low to high. For me they are ideal for unobtrusive volume levels in my living room. I think SW could be added to give a chest pounding feeling and annoy the neighbors. I sure don't need or prefer a pair of ported Sony speakers, I think I paid about the same price - they sound a lot better to me than these Sony speakers with the same built in amplifier.
