Retrofitting LED bulbs is a brilliant idea

The evolution of LED bulb replacement is full of reports of premature failures. Technology advances as LED lighting becomes dominant in the mainstream. Despite the thrill, it seemed like a good time to explore the state of progress. I used these LeMeng products to replace blown bulbs in my RV's interior lighting. Brightness is similar despite using a fraction of the energy used by incandescent bulbs. The color temperature of the LEDs is slightly warmer compared to the original pure white. I believe it is suitable for my use. The lamps were installed in October last year and are still in sporadic use to this day, almost a year later. While this is hardly a rigorous durability test, none of those installed during this time have failed. HOWEVER, out of 6 lamps purchased, only 5 arrived with a DOA. A similar ratio of flaws has been reported by other reviewers. This is not a good thing compared to my experience with incandescent bulbs where I've bought countless incandescent bulbs for decades without a single DOA. Love the idea of using LED lighting and will love these work lights if they last the years promised. In this case, even the actual increase in unit costs due to the fact that one of them is a DOA can be considered reasonable. There is clearly room for advances in manufacturing processes that improve reliability. On the other hand, this new technology could lead to lower expectations as the new normal.
