I've used dozens of different methods of hearing protection over the years and these are by far the best and worth every penny. First, the fact that you can cancel out loud sounds like gunshots but amplify other sounds is incredible. If you want, you can turn off or amplify most of the sounds to hear the sounds you usually miss. Second, I listen to music and books on my phone, put them in and get great sound quality and no outside interference. When you call they switch to the phone - both the incoming and outgoing audio are amazing. Third, they're comfortable, I had to find the inserts I like best, but there are many sizes and styles to choose from - they're all included. I can wear them in my ears all day and they don't bother me or drop out like others I've tried. Finally, I use them on the plane with my iPad or iPhone, Bluetooth works great. I liked them so much I bought another set for my wife and son in law and they loved them too.
