These superbly ventilated Keen hiking shoes are for hot and dry conditions. Despite what the comparison chart at the bottom of the product page claims in its top line description of these shoes, they are not waterproof. Notice that the chart does not claim these are "Keen Dry Waterproof" lower on the chart. These are definitively NOT waterproof. But for that very reason they are better for hot dry conditions because, not needing to be lined with Gore-Tex (or whatever Keen uses for its waterproofing layer), their ventilation gaps are truly effective at allowing air into the shoe.Keen's trademark hobbitish shape and bulbous toe area is very much on display here. The wide toe box is quite evident; it is also extremely comfortable.
