Now I'm both angry and disappointed with US tool brands

Summary: Tired of Chinese and Mexican tools? If you can't afford Festool but still want German quality = look no further! I was finally able to buy some power tools of my own, and it turned out I was late in the game as searching turned up nothing but frustration. and looking for the same power tools my buddy bought a while back (some of them over 20 years old) only to find out that these trusted brands made in the USA were very well made and no longer available are, and that now you can only get "similar" models under the same brand names, however, NOW they are made in either Mexico or China. INDEED?! Having had some personal experience with some of these at Lowe's and Home Depot, or personally purchased and used some, they are NOT the same as they used to be. Before you buy, make sure where it's made. I have had nothing in the past but problems and regrets having bought some instruments from these countries and swearing I will not buy them again, now I am both angry and disappointed with American instrument brands. Luckily I finally came across METABO (thanks to whoever mentioned them on the website as I've never heard of them before AND haven't seen them here even after 45 minutes searching for grinders on Revain). When I came back to this site and searched for their name, they popped up immediately. This METABO unit is about half the price of a similar unit from Festool (6" random orbit sander) and I doubt the other unit is actually twice as good (can't honestly say - I don't have one, but I'm pretty sure are they really good? To be honest, this METABO is actually almost twice the price of some similar devices from Mexico and China, so one might also wonder if this device is actually twice as good? To be honest, I can't say ; not without an exhaustive evaluative comparison (impossible for this "Jo-Blows Garage Joiner"). Only you can answer that question. What I can say is that to me this tool is worth what I paid for it, and so far I'm EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with this grinder Admittedly I've only been using this ROS for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the durability of this product but based on what I can say about the Verar When I look at the quality of work, my money says that this thing is built to last and that my child will be the proud owner of this marvel. a full-fledged tool sometime in the distant future. Ps - the only thing I can say a little negatively is that the included dust collector is decent at best - I highly recommend buying a bayonet adapter (so the attached hose doesn't slip off that easily) and hooking it up to a vacuum or similar dust extraction system with a good filter bag for fine particles (you can get them here at Revain - get one for drywall dust). With this setup and a good non-slip cutter pad, you can actually sand your kitchen table without your wife ever noticing (just don't ask me how I know before she does). Also, I've spent a lot of time looking for a good router - same problem as above - get one of the Makita routers but make sure it's made in Japan.

Pros
  • Our people's absolute focus on quality at every stage of production
Cons
  • So far so good
