I bought these for my 16 year old dog whose hind leg is drooping (dragging) due to lumbar spondylosis. He dragged his foot across our cement patio to get to the yard, which made his ankles itchy and sore. We tried everything from expensive orthotics to many different socks and nothing held his leg. When he got to court, the sock or suspenders had fallen off. Not with this shoe. The double velcro strap holds it VERY well and it stayed on track both ways (it didn't even pucker). I even tried tugging on it a little when it got back in the house to see if it would loosen and move until I removed both velcro straps. This shoe stays in place! I have a border collie, I bought a medium size. It fits perfectly. Just make sure you loosen the bottom velcro a bit before tightening it. At first I thought it was too small when I was trying to put it on for the first time. I undid the bottom Velcro and was surprised to see that this expanded the bottom of the boot. I highly recommend these boots.
