Not at all gentle on swimwear
They are so abrasive I cannot recommend them for any skin other than the feet. I put them in the washer and dryer which didn't soften them either. However, they are great for removing scum from my shower stall and could probably be used to wash solids off dishes. They are not a substance except the binding. They consist of three layers of unusually shaped rigid nylon mesh.
