Nikon D5000 is an amateur medicine.

I recently bought a Nikon D5000 (June 6th 2010) and have already taken over 500 pictures with it. I've been using the Canon Rebel XTi for many years (the last two) and all with great disappointment. It's not that Canon made a bad product, it's just that this model was not up to Canon standards and was plagued with exposure issues. These issues have been verified on numerous forums. Now imagine the Nikon D5000 and Ashton Kutcher in a Nikon runway commercial. I was immediately impressed with the drop down monitor and was curious to see how well it worked. Nikon is synonymous with quality in every way, what could you go wrong? Here's what I thought of Canon. So this time it's research, research. In short, this is a great camera. Easy to use, a bit bulky but you get used to it, and great photos. I also ordered a 55-200mm telephoto lens. This camera is everything they talk about and more. While I understand that the Nikon D90 is a bit more expensive, this D5000 has a few more features than its D90 cousin. If you're looking for your first serious DSLR, this is for you. The color display of the monitor is true to life and the picture quality is phenomenal. Numerous shots are an amateur photographer's dream. Talk about taking the guesswork out of the photo shoot. So if you're in the market and can't make up your mind, try the D5000 at your local photoshop retailer or elsewhere where you physically shop, I did that and closed the deal. Seeing is really believing when it comes to investments like this. bottom line. Pleasure. Nikon D5000 12.3MP DX DSLR with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens and 2.7" Vari-Angle LCD
