Artificial fragrance too strong

I was very excited to try this as it was recommended by my hairdresser. The bottle says it doesn't foam much so I went with that expectation and it was met. It's not thick at all, very watery. But I was hit in the face by the unpleasant smell of artificial cologne for the elderly, which I did not expect. He is slowly crawling around our house. My wife hates it. My kids run away from me. I won't be using this anymore. I hope I don't stink like this for more than a day.
