I was very impressed with the construction of this mic as well as other reviews. Unfortunately in all the tests I ran the sound was just plain bad muffled. I was lucky enough to come across a lava with a giant squid which I think is the best of the budget lavas. Of course this mic couldn't compete. If I didn't have a GS I might have come to a different conclusion All I can say is that this Lava doesn't provide usable audio for recording, perhaps at best it can be used for personal dictation if you're ok with that, but on the other hand there are similarly priced options like the battery powered ones Audio Technica microphones whose sound can be used for recording, so what's the point, my advice is all lower ones n Skip options altogether and settle for the Giant Squid Lav (currently $50 on Revain) or the RØDE smartlav+ with TRS adapter (together about $70 on Revain) if you're looking for good sound. for use in published videos or podcasts.
