Surely not a sweatshirt?
My son is 2.5 and wears a 3. I ordered 4T and it fits perfectly. It's more like a long sleeve t-shirt; no sweater. I was hoping to use this during the colder months, but it will be more practical in spring or fall when the mornings are cooler. It washes well and is practical, but be aware this is not a sweatshirt.
