Ego-II is a new addition to the DOSS range of Bluetooth speakers. Priced at $39.99 and measuring 7.8 x 2 x 2.5 inches, this is the smallest part of the scale. Its size allows it to fit well in locations where counter space/footprint is high. This can be a kitchen, a bathroom or a children's room. Because it has an IPC rating, it works in an environment where other speakers don't. The sound quality is very good for the size. Small speakers suffer from bass problems just because they are small and cannot have large bass speakers. However, it gets along well with the bass. Like most passive subwoofers, they sound best when placed a few inches from a hard surface. Using the frequency generator via my phone I was able to hear from about 55Hz to 11500Hz. Of course, young people could have heard more, but I was happy with what I could hear. Classical music is surprisingly clear, with good high frequencies. However, I've noticed that when the music gets more complex, ie more instruments are added, it gets a bit confusing. Music like club/techno that relies heavily on bass will demonstrate this. The piano and acoustic guitar are pretty clean. Voices are clear and comfortable to hear. Overall this is a well built speaker. This is an inexpensive speaker with better quality than others. Suitable for children's rooms, bathrooms, kitchens or workplaces (garages). Enjoy.
