I can't believe I'm sitting here writing a 5 star review for this product. Let me explain: When my husband and I found out we were pregnant, every older woman in our lives insisted that we get a changing table for our downstairs. We thought that was totally ridiculous. The newborn already had countless "essentials" that already took up most of our home. This product just seemed like a huge waste of money and space. We already had a changing table upstairs in the nursery and my husband and I felt like when we were downstairs we would either change the diaper on the floor, change the diaper on the couch, or go upstairs and change the diaper in the bedroom. Children. You get so much different (and often unsolicited) advice when you're pregnant, but it was funny, all the women in our lives said the same thing about the changing table. They insisted they needed it every time babysitting - their knees or back would hurt if they didn't have a proper table and it would be too far to walk all the way up the stairs. My husband and I were so sick of her whining that we ordered this as we found it to be one of the cheapest and easiest changing tables. We joked and dubbed it the 'granny table' and put it together in a corner of our main living room. I thought he was just collecting dust. God, how wrong I was! First, we were able to store so much on the shelves! We had 6 baskets, 3 on each shelf and we used them to store: 1. bibs and burp clothes2. Blankets, changing tablecloths and napkins3. Wet wipes and diaper fillers4. diapers5. Overalls, socks and hats6. Various things like: nail clippers, thermometer, diaper cream, nose ball, brush. I already liked the fact that it gave me a place to keep all the children's stuff nicely in an organized and aesthetic way. This table grew inside me even before the baby was born. When the baby was born I was shocked at how many times I used it to change diapers. As much as we hate to admit it, the old ladies were right - changing the baby on the table was a lot easier! Another big plus that even they didn't think of was so many diaper accidents. We're talking about massive tears in the diaper - feces everywhere. Would I really want to change this mess ON OUR SOFA? Or what if the baby wants to pee when changing diapers? Again, it wouldn't be so great if we did it on our couch. It's also great for quirky kids! You can buckle them up to help them move. We were also able to mount a musical mobile on the side to entertain baby during diaper changes. Again, not that it would be that easy with the bottom of our changing station on the couch. I will note that while this came with the replaceable foam pad, I found it to be very flimsy and wrinkled. I bought a separate changing pad (Summer Infant Contour Changing Pad) that we use instead. I can only recommend this combination! To combat all of those diaper accidents mentioned above, we really relied on these liners (Munchkin Waterproof Changing Pads, Quantity 3) for easier cleanup. We have been using this table several times a day for the past 18 months. It is perfectly preserved. No chipped paint and no signs of cracking anytime soon. It goes really well with all the other dark furniture we have in our living room. You will never know what a low price we paid for it. BONUS: When the baby isn't using it, our two cats enjoy it like a cat bed. Everyone in our house has really used this thing! I sincerely think that when our daughter goes potty we will still carry on in the same spirit. We will use shelves/baskets to store toys and the cats can sleep on top!
