Not what we expected

My wife got this to help organize our shoes. Then she enlisted me to put it together. It seemed straight forward at first, which is good because the instructions are not very detailed. But at least it comes with instructions. No tools required, although it does come with a small plastic hammer that looks like a toy. The shelf unit consists of panels that are made of a heavy wire border and have a tough plastic webbing. These panels are connected by pressing them into plastic pieces that have slots at right angles. Due to the generic nature of the design, the plastic pieces stick out on the top and both sides. It also has 'doors' that are made with the same heavy wire and use a translucent plastic webbing. These are also pressed into place. Finally, there are some optional shelves (same construction) which hang on small plastic hooks. The hooks are mounted on slits that are in the plastic webbing. These shelves fit very tightly and tend to distort the whole unit a little bit.I did not analyze the (vague) directions thoroughly enough, and had to undo a few connections to make the some changes. It is very difficult to undo the connections once they are pressed together but it can be done.Final assessment: The shelves are wide enough to fit 2 pair of women's shoes but can't fit 2 pair average sized men's shoes. The unit is relatively strong but easily leans if a slight sideways pressure is applied. The doors do not fit very well.Overall, I'm not impressed with the design or construction methods - especially at this price point.

This shoe rack is fairly easy to assemble. They pretty much just snap together. Some slight force is required. I accidentally put too much pressure on the midsection of one of the pieces which caused it to bend slightly. :/ The gray cloth appears much lighter in person and the transparent doors aren’t as clear as I was expecting. Some of the door flap obstructs each other. It could be caused by me setting it up incorrectly or by design cutout. Visually, this is not very pretty. I keep this in my garage. I think this will be good in the garage or for a kid in college.
