Hello everyone! I recently purchased a Topeak Flashstand Fat Bike Stand in January 2013 to replace a portable footrest for my high end mountain bike. As there is no room on my mountain bike to properly mount a typical footpeg. I thought it was a pretty good idea from Topeak. Simply take the stand with you on your bike ride and attach it as a stand to the pedal of any bike in seconds. While the idea itself was pretty good, many reviewers point out that the long black plastic on the stand that supports the cranks is very brittle. It broke for many reviewers and for me it inevitably broke right after I received it on day one. TRUST ME AND OTHER SIGNERS! The black plastic at the top is the weakest part of the stand that will support the entire weight of your bike! Topeak should have made it more durable or metal as the best option given the weight of the bike. Other parts like the lower legs are made of metal and the silver part is stronger than the black one. When I adjusted the cranks so that the bike was upright using the Topeak portable stand, the black plastic on top broke off after my bike tilted a bit. I tried supergluing the black plastic but it didn't help. Luckily it broke the first day and I called Amazon and they said it was a product defect. I was able to return it using Amazon free UPS shipping. THANKS AMAZON FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION :)) Some reviewers broke it after a few months so they can't return it. If yours breaks within the first few days of purchase, you can still contact Amazon for a refund as this will be considered a product defect. please look for other options on ebay or amazon as there are stands that will fit your mountain bike and they are cheaper and made of metal not plastic. Try to find a kickstand that fits your bike's rear triangle. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF POSSIBLE! If you really want to try this product, try placing the bike upright on the footrest rather than tilted down before transferring the weight of the bike to the footrest. GOOD LUCK and comment it. Haru
