I bought this ball head over 3 months ago. I found that the Arca-Swiss backing plate attached to the ball head could not be removed, which prevented me from installing some hardware directly onto the ball head. Wrote a complaint to the company, no answer. The ball head is pretty solid (so far) and can handle an 8-pound weight at a 45-degree incline with no issues. Last week I received an email from a company apologizing for the late reply because a message I sent was accidentally "ignored" due to their PO Box email address being exposed. They said they would send me a new ball head without the plate mounted on it and the base plate screw was not glued to the ball head. Of course, after a week they sent me a new ball head and the base plate could be removed freely. However, what I didn't notice was that there was a notch protruding from the shaft of the ball head to attach the base plate. However, the customer service is excellent and rectifies the oversight efficiently and effectively. I can easily put a gasket in to fix the notch problem. Now I can mount some hardware directly onto the ball head. I thank the company for contacting me and proactively resolving my issue. By the way, they sent me a tripod head to compensate for my inconvenience, which was a nice consideration.
