UPDATE: Meadowlark contacted me and sent me a third unit. This one is perfect. The buckles are properly fastened and the puppies are now in the back seat of the car where they can't make a big mess. After playing around with dirty, wet dogs for a few days, I removed the seat cover and found no dirt on my seats. It looks like it's actually waterproof. Customer service was excellent and I would be happy to do business with Meadowlark again. When they saw my review, they immediately sent me a new device. They also informed me that they changed the production methods at the factory to avoid my problem in the future. Original post: I want to love this product. To be honest the design is great and there are dogs in the back seat where they can't splash on the seats and make a mess. Here's the problem: I received two items with a major defect. There is an adhesive that attaches the straps to the clips/buckles. This is very important as the straps and clips will attach the hammock to your car. In both cases the adhesive immediately separated and the clips fell off, making the product as useful as a large tarp. I contacted the seller/manufacturer and got a replacement. The replacement device had the same problem. I sewed the ribbons to the clips and now everything works. However, this is a ridiculous lack for a $50 product. The manufacturer has excellent customer service to its credit. But they sent me two units with broken attachment mechanisms. Tl; dr: good design, came with flaws. Twice. I had to fix it myself with a sewing kit.
