I ordered this for a friend who bought a trunk for the back of his jeep. It turned out that the length of the pipe on the trunk is not enough to remove the spare wheel. This 8" extension gave us enough room to mount the holder. The only thing that would be better if it included a pin for backup. If you're installing and expanding, you'll almost certainly need another pin.
