I used to have a Jansport backpack like this but it had a zipper on the side for quick access to the inside without having to worry about straps and drawstrings. SO handy. I only opened the lid when I needed to expand the pocket for large items. I abandoned my first classic Herschel backpack because it was cute but impractical - it lacked internal organization. This convertible model is inferior for other reasons. In fact, I feel like most Herschel bags have a problem when it comes to how useful their luggage really is. a prime example of form over function.
