Very bright, the light heats up at maximum power

Very bright light. On a high setting, this should be enough for the darkest area you're driving. For areas with some streetlights, the second highest setting should be sufficient. The beam distribution is also good from top to bottom. Side-to-side isn't bad either, and it has the feature of pivoting on the mount with detents (click detents) every few degrees, so you can steer it left or right as needed. The battery life corresponds to the previous claims very well. The downside is that the mount isn't perfect. It's not as secure as most who use a metal or thick hard plastic ring (with a movable side to attach to the handlebars) that wraps around the entire handlebar. This has a thin, flexible plastic strap that is threaded on one side and so is tightened with a large plastic nut. This is by no means the most secure mount, and much cheaper flashlights have more secure mounts. You can see it under the light in the first picture in the listing. What's protruding down from the back is a threaded strap. Also, the light is slightly off-center in the central aiming position. The light is wide enough that it doesn't bother much, but it's annoying and shows that a stiff but "clickless" rotating mechanism would be better. I have another bike light that has it. Interestingly, like many other Chinese-made products, this light is almost identical to the Intey-branded bike light I bought a few years ago. This one had no rotation in the mount and I think it only required 1600 lumens and the flare fringes on the front lenses were yellow instead of blue. Otherwise it was identical. My son dropped it on the garage floor once and that was it. After that you couldn't stop it. Before the fall, the battery life of the Intey-branded model was actually just under 2 hours on many rides. If you take longer trips like I often do, you need to find segments where you can use the 2nd max to extend the battery life to 2-2.5 hours. Also, unless you can temporarily use an even lower setting, you better have a plan B. We'll see how this option holds up over time. At $80 I still give it 3 stars even with the cons. This brightness will match and even surpass some of the $100 bulbs, and it will be much brighter than most cheap $50 bulbs.

Pros
  • Headlight
Cons
  • Big and chunky
