Review on WC Wicked Cushions Upgraded Replacement Earpads For ATH M50X - Fits Audio Technica M40X / M50XBT / HyperX Cloud &Amp Accessories & Supplies by Angela Santos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

These cushions gave me a whole new listening and gaming experience with the AudioTechnica ATH-M50x headphones.

I usually hate it when people write product reviews straight out of the box, but I'm so blown away by these ear pads I couldn't wait. I also realized immediately after writing this that a lot of what I said sounds a lot like a product description so I want to go ahead and say that this is not a paid review and I didn't receive anything to close those ears rate pads. I'm just a low level audiophile coming home from school in the summer with nothing else to do. I've been using AudioTechnica ATH-M50X full-size headphones for gaming, listening, making music and watching YouTube for over 4 years. /Netflix. I estimate I spent at least 2500 hours in these headphones with the original ear pads. Of course, the old pillows are completely worn out. The foam is almost completely compressed, the outer materials have been breaking off in small flakes for about 8 months (they can even be seen on the table in the attached photos), and the inner layer in the padding between the ears and the speakers ( speakers) has a hole in each pillow. Pillow replacement was badly needed; These pillows are absolutely perfect. I will go ahead and address my only complaint: there was a delay in shipping my ear pads which delayed delivery by a few days. However, I received them in the mail the day after I was told they had been shipped so it took a total of 9 days to receive them after completing my purchase. Wicked Cushions appears to be a relatively small business so the slight delay in shipping is understandable. This does not detract from the product itself, which is why the cushions retain their 5-star rating. Now for the good news: 1. These cushions are MASSIVE, both in terms of the thickness of the foam and the diameter of the ear holes. I have fairly large ears and this is the first time my ears have been completely covered with headphones. This eliminates the uncomfortable pressing of the ears against the head that I often experienced after wearing the headphones for several hours (even before the standard cushions wore out). I wear contact lenses most of the time, but they work well with glasses too. The pressure in the glasses is hardly noticeable. I assume these earcups actually fit my ears and don't press on the top like other earbuds. It's great to finally get true over-ear headphones.2. Like I said, these pillows are huge. The foam in these pillows is approximately 1 inch thick. It's soft and compresses comfortably without the sound drivers touching my ears (one of the main reasons my headphones were so uncomfortable before the update). I thought I might feel a bit constrained by the size of the pillows before putting them on for the first time, but that's hardly the case. I can barely feel the headphones except for a very light squeeze around my ears. Rather they fit better than anything else at the moment and I have no doubt this will go away over time as the foam explodes. 3. The sound quality of the headphones has improved significantly. I listened to music with them for about two hours and I'm really amazed at how much the quality has improved. I've listened to Cage the Elephant, Mac Demarco, Run the Jewels, Kanye West, Led Zeppelin, Mastodon and Tool to get an idea of what different genres sound like. The depth of the sound has greatly improved, so much so that I don't even know how to explain it. It's not that music used to sound flat, it's that it now sounds almost like surround sound rather than stereo. The depth gain is insane. All the mids and highs sound a lot cleaner than before, and the new depth allows the bass to really fill the space around and in my ears like never before. I didn't realize pillows could have such a big impact on the range of sounds that headphones can reproduce, so this is all a very pleasant surprise. I also saw how it affected gameplay. In games like Rainbow 6 Siege, where sound is so important, the improved clarity and quality comes in very handy. Installation was very easy. The cushions even come with a little diagram of their installation. All you really have to do is take the old ones off and attach the new ones to the edges. These pads are quite stretchy so you don't have to worry about them tearing during installation. This is one of the most common positives you can see in the review, but these pillows appear to be of very high quality. The leather feels soft but firm, the memory foam holds its shape very well and stretches very quickly. I'll have to come back and update this review in a few months to talk about how the memory foam is holding up, but the fact that it has memory foam in it at all should be indicative of the quality and comfort that these offer provide pillows. There's a chance these pads will retain a lot of warmth with prolonged wear or play while gaming, but I can't say for sure yet. The materials insulate sound very well, and I assume they insulate heat well too. However, I haven't noticed any problems and have had them on my head for about 4 hours now.
