I've had an Audiotechnica M50x for a few years now and the stock pads really ruined my experience. I first tried the HM5 interchangeable ear pads and while they offer comfort in the headphones, they completely change the sound signature, pitching it up and making it sound really tinny. Purchased for AudioTechnica ATH-M50s headphones. The original pads were about 5 years old and started to tear and became very stiff and uncomfortable. Update after 6 months of use: They change the sound too much for my taste, so I deduct 2 stars. The bass is overblown and the highs become spicy, dry and lose their shine. I've tried removing the mesh entirely and leaving the drivers open, but the results were the same. I suspect this is due to their thickness, which places the drivers much farther from your ears and changes the geometry of the resonator.
