A great alternative to any timer switch

Decided to try these as an upgrade to old socket timers. One for the coffee pot and one for the lamp. It's pretty easy to set up, but not immediately intuitive for non-technical types. This requires the use of their app and internet access. The app allows you to connect Wyze sensors as triggers or set any type of schedule. I suspect IFTTT has some actions that can be used. But there's no Apple Homekit integration, and that's the case with all Wyzes so far. I believe they work with Alexa and Google Home. Basically, you can set up activities, schedules, and shortcuts in the app. What I like is that it's easy to bypass the schedule by just going into the app to turn it on or off, rather than reaching for a closet or desk to reach for the timer to manually set the Pressing the power button, even though they are there, is also a physical button. . There's a vacation mode for the lamps, which I think randomizes the on and off times on a schedule. It would be helpful if they add a Dusk to Dawn feature or you could select Sunset and/or Sunrise separately to schedule lamps. What I don't like is the inability to edit wifi settings without rebooting and rebooting, as well as the reliance on internet access. I've only had one scheduled turn on failure so far, don't know why. It's cheaper than a plug-in timer and offers 15 amp capacity for things like coffee makers. Overall I would buy again but would like to see an easier option to edit the wifi settings and not rely on the internet once set up.

Pros
  • Socket switch
Cons
