Reliable camera, great price, decent lifespan

I recently had a problem with the camera. Everything seems to work, just black. I think the actual part of the camera is broken. I know the device acts as a heat sink and my wife covered it with something several times which made it very hot. In that sense, I really liked this camera, except for a few things. I'll compile a list of pros and cons below to help people decide. I bought him in December 2015 and he died maybe a week ago. So almost 5 years of work with no real downtime. During this time I went through several updates, changed application names and made many other changes. Overall I had a great experience with it, I feel I got my value out of the camera and I'm glad I had it. -=Pros=-- Rugged feel of the device. Solid persistent system - pretty good customer support. I had a few issues and they guided me through them. I will say that I think their website and FAQ may need some tweaking.- Great image, not perfect, good example from across the room. I can see the lock, but I can't tell if it's locked or unlocked.-=Cons=-- Price: At $200, it's a hard pill to swallow, and more importantly, I find it difficult to break one Expansion beyond the first chamber to justify. After buying the first one I wanted to buy other netatmo products but the whole line is expensive. I wanted a second camera but didn't want to spend $200. I wanted door sensors but didn't want to spend $100 for 3 packs. Outdoor cameras are still cool and expensive. This is my biggest problem with this camera system. Traffic alerts broke a year ago. There was an update and it caused me to be unable to fix motion control notifications. I disabled them completely, but they continued to work. This was the first major issue I had with the company and I was never happy with the results. Not the end of the world, just hard to support the company that made this happen with their app. The body is a heat sink. Cool concept but my wife didn't like the fact that the camera was on when she was home so she covered it up. She finally figured out the problem with it, but I'm pretty sure it drastically reduced the life of the camera. This can also cause my micro sd card overheating and dying problem. They have made many changes to the app. Once upon a time netatmo as collateral, then they changed color. It's hard to keep up. As soon as my camera broke I started trying to get support for it, that's when I realized how long I've had it. Covid understandably made it difficult for them but communication was a bit slow and after some research I settled on mini cameras with flickers. The price is excellent - $34 for the device. There is some gray information about cloud and local storage, but I'll get to that later. The price of all their cameras is currently much cheaper than anything else. For now, I'm happy with that decision. And heck if I decide not to go down that route I'll lose $60 not $200 on netatmo.
