Okay, I'll admit it. When it comes to electronics, I'm very technical and need a camera that's easy to turn on and use (we have three grandchildren) and takes great pictures in all lighting conditions. I've been using the Sony HX5V for a number of years and love it because it's so easy to use and takes great pictures. I left the camera in anti-shake mode and only got a few bad shots out of thousands. As we are traveling to China in a few months we wanted to pack a backup camera just in case as this will be a once in a lifetime trip for us. I tried different brands of cameras (mainly Canon and Panasonic) thanks to friends who lent me theirs, but I was disappointed because the quality of the pictures depends on the lighting (even the one they took). I recently stumbled across this camera and found that the price had come down, but was a bit concerned as it doesn't have the anti-shake mode that my other camera has. It has been found that the superior auto mode has the same function as anti-shake. This mode takes multiple shots in a row and somehow stitches them together to get the best possible image. I only had a few days but I practiced because I wasn't sure I wanted to keep it. The images have true-to-life colors and are very clear, even when grandchildren are playing or in low-light conditions. I will say that this camera is very small and will definitely use the strap all the time. My only criticism of this camera is that the doors for connecting the charger and even the battery compartment feel a little flimsy. I bought extra batteries and a charger so I no longer have to open the charging hatch as it feels very fragile. I see it breaks pretty quickly. I'd say if you're looking for a budget camera that takes above average pictures and is easy to use, give this one a try.
