These socks have a sweet vintage charm. However, the dimensions are a little confusing and may be inaccurate. I ordered size 7-9 for my 8.5 year old daughter who wears size 2 (Y) shoes. The socks fit but are a little tight. (These socks are about 7 inches long, measured heel to heel.) I don't think they will fit a kid with a large shoe size. Given that the average 9 year old girl has a shoe size in the 2-4(Y) range, I would say the true "size range" is 7-8 years. However, the material is soft and the toe seam is minimal so they are comfortable. My daughter, who likes to go barefoot, often doesn't wear these socks when she comes home from school. So while I can and do recommend them, I also advise you to order the next size up, just to be on the safe side.
